Crystal Palace 4-3 Liverpool (FA Cup Semi Final)

This classic match started in favour for Liverpool as, Ian Rush stole through to collect a ball from Steve McMahon and opened the scoring on the 23rd minute. By the end of the first half it looked like Liverpool were going to coast to an easy victory. Palace emerged from the break with fresh resolve. Directly from the kick off, Pemberton outstripped the Liverpool defence down the right and pumped a high ball into the area. John Salako’s shot was only cleared to Mark Bright who blasted the equalizer with his left foot past Grobbelaar. Now, the Liverpool defence did not look assured. In the 70th minute, a free kick from Andy Gray was headed on by Bright at the near post and OReilly emerged from the goalmouth crush to put palace into a 2-1 lead. McMahon immediately equalized for Liverpool and it was game on. One minute later, Pemberton brought down Steve Staunton as he surged into the Palace box. John Barnes scored the penalty kick to put Liverpool ahead. In the dying minute of the game, Liverpool failed to clear from a corner and Gray showed great anticipation to head home and level the proceedings. The tension was unbearable as the match went into extra time. In the second period, Palace won a corner. As the ball came across, Alan Pardew rose above Ronnie Whelan to head home the winner.

Manchester United 3-3 Crystal Palace
FA Cup Final - 1990

United eventually won the 1990 FA Cup final, however here is how they arrived to the replay. After 20 minutes of play, Gary O’Reilly scores the opening vital goal for Palace as he beats both Steve Bruce and Jim Leighton to make it 1-0 to Palace. With only 10 minutes of the half remaining, Danny Wallace played the ball out to Brain McClair on the right; his first time centre to the far post is headed down by Bryan Robson. Palace then went on to concede as unlucky goal, as Neil Webb slid a fine pass to Mark Hughes who scored and gave United a 2-1 lead. With only 17 minutes remaining, Ian Wright scored one of the greatest FA Cup goals of all time to sail Palace back on level terms. Immediately into extra time, John Solako crossed a fine ball to Ian Wright who volleyed Crystal Palace back into the lead. However with character, united came back, and with seven minutes remaining, Danny Wallace slipped a neat ball through to Hughes who ran left to right into the penalty area, Hughes smashed the ball into the back of the net, to force the final to a replay, which United won 1-0.

Crystal palace 6-3 Stoke City

Stoke entered this match with an unbeaten run of nine matches and the match started off at a pulsating pace with three goals in the first seven minutes. Andy Johnson scored on the fifth minute howvere John Eustace immediately replied for Stoke. Johnson made it 2-1 after nine minutes to give Palace a 2-1 lead. He completed his hat trick in the 33rd minute as they went 3-1 in front. Clive Clarke replied for Stoke City on the 44th minute to make it 3-2, however immediately after, Michael Hughes made it 4-2. Neil Shipperley looked to have booked the three points on the 55th minute as he made it 5-2, however Stoke came right back into o it as Carl Asaba score a penalty to hand them with a life line. Wayne Routledge sealed the victory in injury time as Ian Dowies side picked up all three points in what was a probably the match of the season.
