Crystal Palace FC was formed in the year 1905 and their first home was the grounds which the FA cup finals was held in. The club joined the football league in the year 1920 and won the third division title in the year 1921. After spending four years playing in the second division they were relegated in to the third division south. They remained a third division south team until the late 1950’s as they were relegated in to the newly founded fourth division. The furthest they had reached in the FA cup was the fifth round in 1926 and 1929.
Peter Simpson was the Crystal Palace star player during this time period, scoring 154 league goals between 1930 and 1934, making him the clubs all time top goal scorer. He was also most notable for scoring a staggering 46 league goals during the 1930 – 1931 season for Palace.
